Paediatric Therapy for Tamariki/Children
Our paediatric allied health services help tamariki/children overcome challenges, gain confidence, and be prepared for success however that may look to them.
Paediatric therapy that fits into everyday life
One team, working toward shared goals
Children thrive when the people supporting them work together. As an interdisciplinary paediatric allied health provider, Better Days has clinicians who provide care for children and teenagers across all our services. Our clinicians collaborate across disciplines to provide coordinated care centered on the goals that matter most to the child and their whānau.

Occupational therapy
Helping people become independent in daily tasks and improve their quality of life.

Speech and language therapy
Communication and swallowing support based on needs and lifestyle.

Physiotherapy
Enhancing movement and function for people recovering from injury or living with a disability.

Psychology
Choose to see a psychologist for clinical, evidence-based mental health support. We’re here to support resilience and long-term wellbeing.
Providing paediatric services from infancy to young adulthood
How we work
Support built around your child and whānau
- Whānau-centred: We listen to what matters to your child and family.
- Practical: Therapy focuses on meaningful goals and everyday activities.
- Collaborative: We can work alongside whānau, schools, funders and other health professionals.
- Coordinated: When several clinicians are involved, we work together toward shared goals.
Our flexible supporting services
Support where it works best
Therapy is often most useful when it happens in the places where children live, learn and play. Depending on your child’s needs and the service available, support may be provided through:

Clinic and Education-Based Services
Appointments at our Ellerslie clinic, schools and early learning settings.

In-home and Community
Flexible therapy and support delivered in your home or within your local community.

Telehealth
Experienced support you can access at home with our telehealth solutions
Paediatric telehealth solutions
Telehealth can make it easier to access support around school, work and family commitments. It can be a great option for parent and caregiver coaching, consultations, reviews, goal setting and some therapy sessions.
Some assessments and therapy services are best delivered in person. Our team will work with you to recommend the approach that best meets your needs, whether that’s online, in person, or a combination of both.
Travel charges may apply to appointments delivered at home, school or in the community. Any applicable costs will be discussed before your appointment is confirmed.
Funding and referrals
ACC-funded services
Better Days receives referrals directly from ACC. If your child or young person has an ACC claim and you think our team could help, speak with your ACC Recovery Partner or Recovery Assistant about a referral to Better Days.
Private services
You can contact us directly about privately funded assessments and therapy. A referral from a health professional is not usually required.
Individualised Funding
Some services may be accessed using Individualised Funding where they align with the person’s funding plan and the relevant purchasing guidelines. Contact us to discuss what support you are looking for.
Private Fees and Pricing
We believe in providing clear and transparent pricing for our private services. The fees below apply to appointments and assessments that are not funded by ACC.
If you have questions about funding or your eligibility for ACC support, our team is happy to help. Get in touch with our team.
Additional time for reports, liaison, travel or specialised assessments may be charged separately. We will explain the likely costs and obtain your agreement before proceeding.
Complex Paediatric Assessment
For children with more detailed developmental, disability, injury, sensory, equipment, behavioural, or participation needs, including children with co-occurring developmental or neurodiverse needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, global developmental delay, sensory processing differences, or complex medical histories.
This assessment allows additional time for observation, whānau discussion, clinical reasoning, recommendations, and a brief written summary. We are happy to discuss which assessment is most appropriate for your child.
