Better Days is a registered ACC provider delivering personalised allied health and rehabilitation services across Aotearoa New Zealand.
We work alongside ACC Recovery Team Members, healthcare professionals, whānau, schools, employers, and community organisations to support people recovering after injury. Our interdisciplinary team helps kiritaki/clients build independence, participate in their communities, and work towards the goals that matter most to them.

Better Day’s delivers a range of ACC-funded rehabilitation and assessment services designed to support recovery and independence.
These programmes support people to build skills, confidence, and independence in everyday life.
Communication Assistive Technology Assessment (CATA)
We support people with communication challenges by assessing their needs and recommending assistive technology, devices, and strategies to help them communicate and participate more fully in everyday life.
Social Rehabilitation Needs Assessment (SRNA)
We complete comprehensive assessments to identify a person’s rehabilitation, support, equipment, and independence needs following injury. This may include Integrated Rehabilitation Assessments (IRA) and Single Discipline Assessments (SDA).
Education-Based Rehabilitation Assessment (EBRA)
We support children and young people to safely access learning environments and participate in education following injury.
Housing Modifications Assessment Service (HMAS)
We assess the home environment and recommend modifications to improve accessibility, safety, and independence.
Wheelchair and Seating Assessment Service (WSAS)
We assess mobility, positioning, posture, and equipment needs to identify appropriate wheelchair and seating solutions.

What to Expect

We review the referral information and work with the client, whānau, ACC, and relevant providers to understand the injury-related needs, current challenges, goals, and required supports.
Step 2: Personalised recommendations
Our clinicians develop practical recommendations and ACC rehabilitation strategies tailored to the client’s needs, goals, environment, and funding pathway.
Step 3: Ongoing support
Where ongoing rehabilitation is required, we continue working alongside the client, whānau, ACC Recovery team Member, and wider support team to implement the plan, review progress, and adjust support as needs change

When should I refer someone to Better Days?
You can refer to Better Days when a client would benefit from allied health or rehabilitation support following injury.
This may include support to improve independence, participation, communication, mobility, wellbeing, or access to home, school, work, or community environments.
What types of ACC clients do you support?
We support people of all ages with a wide range of injury types and rehabilitation needs.
This includes clients recovering from traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, burn injuries, orthopaedic injuries, amputations, communication difficulties, mobility challenges, complex injuries, paediatric rehabilitation needs, and older adult rehabilitation needs.
How do I know if my client is suitable for referral to Better Days?
If your client is experiencing challenges with independence, mobility, communication, wellbeing, returning to work or education, or participating in everyday activities following injury, our team may be able to help.
If you are unsure which service is most appropriate, we are happy to discuss your client’s needs and help identify the best rehabilitation pathway.
Will I receive updates on my client’s progress?
Yes. We believe effective rehabilitation is built on collaboration, communication, and coordinated care.
With the client’s consent, we work closely with ACC Recovery Team Members, healthcare professionals, whānau, schools, employers, and other relevant stakeholders. We provide timely updates, practical recommendations, and progress information to support positive rehabilitation outcomes.
