Jerry makes progress on his communication

Jerry and his Speech Language Therapist Nathan have been working together to enhance Jerry’s active communication at home! With the help of Intensive Interactions techniques and single message buttons, Jerry is now able to express his own choices about which radio station he’d like to listen to or where he’d like to eat.

As Nathan shares with us, “He has also gone from minimal vocalisations to increased syllables, for example ‘mamamamama’. We are also using the buttons to make a choice between two preferred songs to build cause and effect relationship for future use in other routines or choice books.”

It must have been such a great moment for Jerry to be able to express himself and his preferences. What an incredible achievement, and an exciting preview of developments to come. Well done, Jerry!
