This is a unique and newly created opportunity in your choice of Auckland, Hamilton or Christchurch to both develop and strengthen your clinical expertise by providing mentorship and clinical education, but also provide clinical assessment and interventions to people in the community. We are open to people wanting to work part time. At Better Days, no two days are the same, though your typical day may involve:
1:1 and group mentoring calls and video calls with other SLTs.
Providing clinical supervision to a team of SLTs including shadowing, mentoring and ongoing report reviews.
Supporting other SLTs to undertake functional assessments of people’s swallowing and communication.
Reviewing reports from other SLTs, including assessment and review reports as well as applications for Assistive Technology/ AAC
Preparing and developing presentations and clinical PD sessions for the team.
Visiting a variety of people in their homes to assess their needs, design appropriate behaviour support plans, and advocate on their behalf. You may work with clients with a range of conditions including neurological conditions, ASD and many more.
Collaborating with your multidisciplinary team to share knowledge and ideas.
Service development – meeting and building relationships with stakeholders in the community to drive the business.
Celebrating “Wins” with your clients, their whānau, your colleagues, and your supportive Leadership Team.
Attending formal and informal opportunities for networking and learning and development both in New Zealand and Australia.

You have 3+ years experience working with people who have complex communication and swallowing needs
You have experience writing SLTs reports related to assessments and funding requests.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Speech and Language Therapy/ Pathology.
Experience in mentoring and supervising others.
You have your own car and a valid driver’s license.

As a Better Days Behaviour Specialist, your day could include:
1:1 and group mentoring calls and video calls with other Behaviour Specialists.
Providing clinical supervision to a team of Behaviour Specialists including shadowing, mentoring and ongoing report reviews.
Supporting other Behaviour Specialists to undertake functional behaviour assessments.
Supporting other Behaviour Specialists to develop behaviour support plans and reviewing these plans.
Providing guidance around the legislation and safeguarding guidelines for restrictive practices, and the role of the Quality and Safeguards Commission in Australia.
Preparing and developing presentations and clinical PD sessions for the team.
Upskilling and developing skills across a range of areas including restrictive practices, mental health and trauma informed behaviour support.
Visiting a variety of people in their homes to assess their needs, design appropriate behaviour support plans, and advocate on their behalf. You may work with clients with a range of conditions including neurological conditions, ASD and many more.

About you
You are passionate about making a difference!
You have tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Applied Behavioural Analysis, Allied Health or similar field
You have 3+ years experience working as a Behaviour Specialist.
You have experience creating Behaviour Support Plans and writing behaviour support reports.
You have experience in mentoring and supervising other clinicians.
You embody Better Days’ values
You have your own car and a valid driver’s license
