Staff Spotlight: Georgina, Occupational Therapist

Georgina is one of our Occupational Therapist’s in Auckland!

Georgina is a seasoned Occupational Therapist with a wide range of approaches and applications in her arsenal. Throughout her decades-long career, she received training on Wheeled Mobility and Postural Management Level 1,2 & Complex, Motivational Interviewing, and Communicating for Results. Georgina also completed her Post-Graduate Diploma of Assessment of Motor and Process Skills after studying Health Science major in Occupational Therapy.

Known to be a very passionate clinician, Georgina took on roles that gave her intensive experience in acute mental health, complex physical disabilities and vocational rehabilitation. She also worked for a paediatric service delivering 1:1 session to children aged 4-10.

In her younger years, Georgina was encouraged by her mum to explore OT. She then spent a day with an OT at a local facility working with children with brain injuries and was hooked ever since! She enjoys getting to know participants and working with the whanau involved, and especially loves going into people’s homes and working in the community.

Now working with Better Days in Aotearoa, Georgina finds herself having a solid client base that she is able to support above & beyond — much like the time when she advocated for a participant to get a gym membership covered as part of the recovery journey.

Georgina wasn’t always going house to house working with participants. For 3 and a half years, she worked on a luxury super yacht in the Mediterranean and Caribbean. During this time, Georgina crossed the Atlantic Ocean from Barbados to Gibraltar — a total of 14 days at sea!
